'Earth Hour'

Although the savings on electricity is not that significant for city dwellers like me, but I think a small move from everyone can create some sort of awareness on saving our mother earth.
I didn't turn off all the lights in my house as there were others in there. I would do so if I am alone at home. I just try to switch off 50% of the lights before I left my house at night.

Try n see if you can find me in the photo, I was 10 y/o when the photo is taken.

Movie Review: ‘The Reader‘

Kate Winslet :)

Movie Rating: B+

Interesting Gifts

Posting some old pics, just to share some interesting gifts that I received this year. The towel is from my sister-in-law, very pratical stuff, somemore the towel is sewed with my name on it. I have no idea how she manage to do it. :) (she said it was done by sewing machine)
This is a Chritmas Gift from my department regional director. The book is really a good stuff, it is a hardcover "Hot, Flat and Crowded", a book that is written by Thomas L. Friedman after the best seller - "The World is Flat", which I have recommended a lot of friends to read the book.
I find that this book is not as interested as the previous one after I went through like 20 pages, but for sure you can read it if you crave for his work.

The book also comes with a personalized note from our director. Each person under him get the same book with a personalized note from him. I think it is really a good way to motivate your subordinates at the same time broaden their knowledge. Honest, I am very happy with the gift, I wrote him a email thanking him right after I receive the gift.

A letter to Subway

Wrote a letter of complain to Subway.

"I need to make a complain on the above mentioned stall. Your shop stated that it will open at 10am on Sunday and Public Holiday, so I waited until 10:05am, the shop is still closed. So I ask the Subway staff over there when the shop will open. He told me they will open at "ten something", so I waited until 10:25am despite the business hour is 10am-10pm (correct me if I am wrong), then only the staff there 'officially open' the gate. So I am ready to order my Subway sandwich... Well, some interesting answer I got from your staff:" the bread was finished yesterday, it is still 'baking'. He asked me to wait for another 35 minutes. Seriously, I am quite angry and disappointed but to walk away from your store.I mean come on, you guys open the store at 10am without the bread ready? If that is the case, why not change the opening time to 11am? I don't know what is going on with Subway, may be your staff just have a good weekend so they come in at 10am which is obviously late to work. Aren't the shop suppose to get everything ready by 10am? Or this is just a norm in Subway restaurant, that the 'full menu' will be ready one hour after the shop opens? Please, if you are reading this, relate my message to the chain store owner, do something! I believe I am not the only one who is complaining here."

Do you "BaiGooHoo"?

Read it on newspaper today, the search engine is lame la... Hahhaahha.. "BaiGooHoo"?! Do check it out at http://www.baigoohoo.com/. There are more imitations like this on the web.
I doubt BaiGooHoo can take off, reason? Very simple, baidu, google, yahoo, all have not more than 6 characters, it is very fast and easy to go to their page. I feel annoyed to type 9 characters to do a 'tri-search' which is really redundant.

Ah Mei's concert

An old school mate of mine told me she got some free tickets for Ah Mei for next Friday, ask me if I want to join? My answer of course is "Yes lah!". I won't pay RM200 for the tickets, but if is free, I don't have to think too much, for sure will attend. Last time she also offered me free Sarah Brightman's concert tickets, too bad I already bought it. :(
Now I wonder how come she can get all these tickets? Why so good one? She said her customer gave it to her... Look forward to hear some good songs from Ah Mei, such as “剪爱”,“听海” and some other nice old songs but I can't recall the names.
Going to attend two concerts in one month, I think this really break my record!

Tyre craze

Hankook V8RS Ventus
Ok. After constantly measuring my tires's thread for the past one month. I finally went to and change my tyres this morning after I found that the tyres have less than 5mm depth of thread. Found one article on the net that supported my idea. When the thread fell below 5mm, the chances of aquaplanning increased. Due to it has been raining everyday, I think I need to get a new tires so I can drive around 100km/h in rain confidently. So I change all 4 tyres today in one shot as I rotate my tires regularly so the threads are pretty even. Mileage was recorded: 65,100km.
I was hoping to change it to Hankook V12EVO, the one that I posted earlier, I was quoted with the price of RM286. But when the mechanic brought out all the tires, I found out that the tires are old! It reads '1308', which means the 13th week of 2008 when they manufactured, so I said I don't want it. Finally I am settled with Hankook V8RS that is dated '3208', which sell for RM245 each. You see, after my 'extensive' research on tires, I started to check on this kind of things, or else I might end up installing older rubber to my car. Aged tires' rubber tends to harden earlier than the newly made tires. By the way, both Hankooks were from Korea.

Anyway, my first impression on this V8RS is: The thread design is not as agressive as V12EVO, the rubber on V8RS are much softer than V12EVO; also the side walls are not as solid as V12EVO. It is very obvious that this V8RS is meant for comfort like Yokohama's A Drive. These Hankook tires are very quiet, one thing of course is due to the tires are still new. I was driving my mom today and I am driving 110km/h per hours on Federal Highway, my mom didn't notice that I am driving at 110km/h, usually she will ask me to slow down when my speed is 90-100km/h. Due to the tires are very quiet, she reads some catelogue calmly and didn't even notice how fast I am driving. Later on she asked me if I have changed the tires, I smiled and said, 'Yes!'.

I will test out the tires' road holding next week when I travel to Cyberjaya. There are some slightly curvy two-lanes-road when most people are speeding 80-110km/h. Will find out how the tires perform on wet road and dry pavement. Frankly speaking, RM245 per pcs is a steal! I paid RM1050 in total which include the cost of alignment + tire valves + camber adjustment. Damn... changing tires are costly, especially if you do it every year! I think I should consider changing two by two next time so I won't feel the pinch.

More about tires:
"Tyres below a tread depth of 3mm are also affected by an increased risk of Aquaplaning when driving on wet roads. This is when a wedge of water is formed between the road and the tyre and means that the tyre loses contact completely with the road surface, so that neither the car's steering or brakes can be properly applied. Product Review: Delsey Insect vs High Sierra backpack

Today I bought the French designed 'Delsey Insect backpack' after I saw the very-tempting price tag, it is only RM250, down from the retail price of RM375. Last time I almost buy it in Singapore when they give away 20% discount, but still the bag will cost around Rm300. There were only 2 bags left on the shelf, so I just grab one of it after inspecting the two. I gave myself an excuse that I will use the Delsey for working purpose, and my High Sierra backpack which I bought last year for gym purpose. (Sigh, everytime when I buy things, I always need an excuse)

The smaller Delsey insect on the shelf cost RM335 and it only gives away 10% discount, so getting the Rm250 is a better deal which only give away for the first 25 or 30 units.
So let us look at the bag... I am going to compare it with my High Sierra (USA) backpack, which I bought around RM140-150 after discount at KLCC. I will start with High Sierra bag.

The compartment strap is very simple and practical, one strap on the laptop compartment will stop the laptop falling off.

Frankly speaking, I love the little pouches on the left and right, it is so practical! I used it to store some little things which is cheap and I need easy access to, I can also put a deck of playing cards, sun block, cotton buds, etc inside the pouch during my trip to Cambodia.

The High Sierra bagpack comes with some "Suspension Strap System", it is not registered with trade mark. So there is nothing to shout about. But one thing I would say is the High Sierra strap system is quite comfortable when you carry the bag.

Look at the 3 spots padding on the back of the backpack. It defintely gives you enough cushioning for your laptop. Also, the bag is very comfortable when you carry it. Now, we look at the Delsey Insect backpack, which the design was inspired by Insect, you can see the backpack looks like a beetle's shell.

The Insect backpack is expandable. The design of the zip is to expand the capacity of the bag, take a close look at the zip, the design might not be something new but it is brilliant.

The bigger RM375 Delsey definitely not meant for a laptop with 12.1 inch screen. I think a 15.4 inch laptop will suit the bag perfectly. The compartment comes with 3 confusing straps. Personally, I think it is redundant, I believe those who buy this kind of bag with laptop compartment very obvious they are not going to bring the laptop and backpack with them for mountain climbing. You don't need 3 straps to increase the stability. Removing the two extra straps perhaps can reduce the price to RM365? RM10 extra labor and material saved from there.

The rear part of the backpack. Here is another redundancy. Look at the wrist strap padding. Everytime when I carry the bag, I need to remove the padding so it can face outside protecting my 'love handle'. They could have just put a simple strap there like High Sierra, or make use of the room and create a pouch there. No doubt, the material used is very good!

I am not sure if this is related with workmanship or the design issue, to me is a bit on workmanship. The rear part tends to 'sink', leaving the structure looks deformed in a way. So when you carry the bag, you feel that your back doesn't feel that comfortable compare to High Sierra due to u back is touching the frame instead of the padding.
Verdict:
Delsey Insect

The winner is definitely High Sierra backpack, Delsey scores well in design, as the backpack really stand out from the crowd, it is so clear if you look at the first picture. But I am a person that looks at the practicality and features. Some more, the Delsey bags cost almost Rm100 more than High Sierra after discount. If is more than RM300, I would say it is not worth your hard earn money unless you just want to go for 'design' only.
Actually my aunt who is living in US for years once brought back a High Sierra for me when I was in Standard 5 if I am not mistaken or may be during high school. If you ask me why I remember it so well about this brand. This is because the backpack is so durable and it lasted for more than 2-3 years even though I am carrying all the heavy books behind my back. So if you are hunting for a good and durable backpack, please don't overlooked High Sierra. I bought the backpack at KLCC last time because my Northface backpack is just too damn small and it has started to 'fall apart' after a few years. High Sierra design is defintely better than Jansport.

KL became Venice again

When two weeks of rain was poured in two hours time, here is what happened!

Look at the two units of 5 series, if the new 5 series is mine, I 'cry also no tears'(cantonese) if my RM400k car soaked in mud water like that.

Hmmm.. Let me guess, Myvi?

Sarah Brightman's concert

I took the above shot with my i-Phone before the concert start. I think the hall is only 60% full. Those who paid for RM253 tickets later on filled up the seats in RM300-600 range. Sigh... I think the turnout could be better if the ticket is not too expensive and the economy is not that bad.
Frankly speaking, this is the concert where I did enjoy all the songs and music, this include 蔡琴。 Both of them got terrific voices but in different league I would say. There are a few moments that my mind had wander around and I almost fell asleep, not because it is not good, it soothe my heart.
I think my only disappointment is the concert last for less than 1 and half hour. Perhaps this kind of songs you can't sing for too long. The coolest part is I get to hear her sing 'the Phantom of the Opera' in Live.
By the way, I also bought a CD from her - 'Time to say goodbye'.

The State with two Menteri Besar (Head of State government)

State capitol building was 'locked out'? What a joke!
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com.my/index.php/malaysia/19449-perak-assembly-lock-out
I think the best solution is have a fresh election for Perak state, let the people there decides which government they want.

Product Review: Hankook V12EVO Ultra High Performance Tyre

These past two weeks I have been checking my tires thread very frequent. Reason? I was hoping my tire thread can worn off faster so I can give myself an excuse to change all my tires to this Hankook V12EVO! Changing tyres is like changing new shoes you see, but of course safety is always the main reason that we should change tyres frequently. I am currently using the Bridgestone MY01, it is a entry level tyre from Bridgestone, but then, I bought it for RM290 per pcs for the size of 205/55/R16, it is not that cheap. The My01 tyre information: Tread wear: 300, Traction: B, Temperature: A.

After I start to do some research on tyres, now I had become a smarter consumer. I found a place that sell a very good deal on Hankook tires. The picture that you saw above will be my next set of tyres, the shop offered me RM284/pcs, this is definitely not a entry level tyre, the tyres were shipped directly from Korea. Tread wear: 3??, Traction: AA , Temperature: A
. I try to get a quote from the shop nearby my house, the lady boss quoted me RM300 per pcs, as for another model, Hankook V8RS, RM280. The other gave me Rm245 only! When I told her the price, the lady boss claimed that it is impossible, she ask me which shop but I refuse to tell her. She said she want to call her supplier and ask them why they are selling others so cheap, she said the price is even lower than her cost. She also commented that Bridgestone is getting pricey nowadays, may be they are transferring the cost to the tires when they have the lawsuit on Firestone tyres installed on Ford Explorer quite some time ago.

My friend recommended me Yokohama tires, though I never use such brand before despite I also heard good things about it, the price I got is around RM270-280 for their entry level AR10 tires, the cheapest one I still can get it around RM240, price is very reasonable. Sometimes I think Japanese product are really a ripped off, most consumers just blindly go for Japanese product, examples are Toyota and Honda that were sold in Malaysia, no doubt some of their car model quality is assured, but then, if you are knowledgeable enough to look at the spec that they are giving you especially in Malaysia, it is really very standard but still they charge u a premium for it, because they know you go for their brand, what is the point of giving you extra air bags or other safety feature like traction control? I think for my next car, I will seriously consider European brand, at least I get more steel per dollar I spent. Well, I didn't say I will not purchase a Japanese car, but definitely I will not put them on my priority list, period.

Anyway, I think I will stick with Hankook V12EVO, cuz I really love the thread, it looks so damn sexy.... hahahah, can I use 'sexy' on tyres? I haven't use it yet but I saw a lot of good reviews in car forums, this is a hot selling product from Korea. So I am going to get one for myself after I put in another 5k km to my car.

Bastard in hiding

Here is the bastard that exposed Elizabeth Wong's photo. Rumors said that he received some money from "interest party" and now he had gone to Indonesia for hiding.

Frankly speaking, this fella is quite handsome, but too bad, he sold his dignity for 'n' amount.

Orthopaedic Visit

Today I went to see a orthopaedic specialist, I want to make use of my insurance to find out if there is any abnormality with my knee because when I take the stairs, I have some minor pain in my knee. So the doctor refer me to take some X-Ray.

The knee is ok, there are still gap and ligament still there I presume.
On this one, if you click and enlarge the photo, you will see the knee cap is very close to the bone, according to doctor, this is what causing the minor pain. I told the doctor that I have started to take glucosamine, and wear knee protector 2 yrs ago. He said that it is a good thing that I have started. So I ask him back what is the solution for my case, you see, I love to play basketball. He said, he won't advise me to play too much of basketball because there a lot of jumping involved and I might shortened the lifespan of my joint lubrication. Deep inside my heart, I was like, 'damn... if I can't jump in the game, means I am totally useless in the team because I play the role as "rebounder' and that requires a lot of jumping because I need to catch the ball that misses so that my team can get a second chance to attack or control of the ball'. I earn the title "Rebound King" in several places, now the doctor ask me to start to think of my 'early retirement' in basketball. He also asked me how long I plan to play basketball? Hmmm.... isn't he suppose to give me a solution? Or may be that is what doctor do, tell a smoker to quit instead of presenting him with some anti-nicotine pills.
I told him that I have read some articles, a person who has some pain in his knee joint shouldn't stop his regular exercising, he said that is true also... alas, I just hope he can tell me more about something I don't know, or else Rm120 for consultation will be wasted.
The whole session takes me 3 hours because of their internal procedure that definitely need to be reengineered, 1 hour wasted on waiting for the letter of guarantee from ING. I finally lost my patient and ask the admin fella give me the phone and let me deal with ING directly, I also suggest the admin fella not to use fax as u will have problem like out of ink or fax machine ran out of paper. Don't worry, I am very nice to the both the admin fella and the ING lady, just like you have clear sky before the storm hits.
The poor admin fella was being polished by a customer earlier, the customer told him in a mean way, "don't tell me you are busy, I am also busy..., you just tell me whether I should pay here or my insurance will pay, cash or credit card also no problem, I just want an answer from you... " I don't think I want to polish the poor guy, seriously... that will made him a really bad day on Friday.
So the admin guy call ING # and pass the deskphone to me.
.... ....
Kwong: This is patient XXX, case number xxxxxx, can I ask when you guys will fax over the letter of guarantee? I have been waiting here for one hour already.
ING: Sir, sorry to keep you waiting, we will get back to you by 5 minutes.
Kwong: You want 5 minutes, I give you 10 minutes instead, how's that sound? So I will wait for you for 10 minutes ya, I hope that will give you enough time, I wait for your report later. Thank you!
Once I got the report in a few minutes time, the admin fella told me to wait for a while first, cuz the doctor went somewhere to do some operation, he need him to sign the document and then pass the document for me to sign. My first impression is "WTF?"
I told the admin guy, "Nevermind la, I sign it first, the doctor is here at the hospital the whole day, and I won't be here for the whole day here waiting for him to sign my document, I sign first, you pass it to him later. If not, I authorize you to sign the document for me. You see, I didn't owe you any money here right? So that means I can go right?"
... He let me sign the document... I told him that luckily I went to collect my supplement at the pharmacy counter while I am waiting for the letter of guarantee from ING, or else after I get the letter then only I go to collect my medicine, I will end up wasting another half an hour there. Damn... so inefficient la these people! You tell me how to compete globally if run things like that?

Gotcha Jerry!

After two nights for setting up the trap waiting for this big fat rat, we finally manage to capture it. I bought the rat glue for RM4.50, I use it to capture two baby rat from the ceiling and one behind the house. So the cost is Rm1.50 per rat, will put that as "Pest Control Cost".
Recently I can feel the rat population is increasing, the alley cats did nothing to it besides making some annoying baby cry like noise to attract opposite sex. So I have to do something about it!
My mom said that I always use my phone to capture 'nonsense' photo. Here is another nonsense photo that you are going to see, with the title: "Gotcha Jerry!"

Sarah Brightman's Concert

Ya hoo! My friend managed to bought me the tickets for Sarah Brightman's concert, I bought the cheapest one to hear her heavenly voice. Cheapest tickets usually sold out very fast, but now I still can get it, I guess a lot of people either don't know who is she or people just want to save up some cash for rainy days.
In case you have no idea who is Sarah, she is one of the world's famous soprano, she sang the song 'You and Me' with a chinese guy (forgot his name), and of course, in Andrew L. Thompson's Phantom of the Opera, singing the voice of Christine Daae.

The ticket that I bought is the cheapest one, I will be sitting far far away from the stage, but I am sure I still can hear her voice. The 'cheapest' ticket that I bought ain't cheap, it is RM253, the most expensive one is RM1203! Damn, I wonder if Sarah is going to shake my hand if I buy the VIP ticket. Anyway, I look forward to the concert!

Got this formula from a friend in "Chinese herb industry", I am sharing it with you now. Do let me know if is effective.

Personality assasinated by evil political enemy

Some reading: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/opinion/breaking-views/136-breaking-views/18549-no-sex-please-were-malaysian-the-malaysian-insider

I really pity Elizabeth Wong who had fall prey to her political enemy (yeah right, don't tell me it is not political motivated). People can be very cunning and evil in order to stay in power. Dirty plots are used to damage the opponents' reputation.

PKR members are falling apart one by one now, some being bought off, some being framed and charged, now the latest case is nude photo some more, it was used to attack her 'morality', damn, imagine you can't sleep naked anymore if you want inside the closed door, once somebody post your pics to the net or start circulating it, you will have to quit your post, a silly remarks made by "Khir Toyol". I think PKR falls because they can't think like their enemy, simply not cunning enough and not rich enough because I believe quite a number of them comes clean. I believe Elizabeth's ex BF is a millionaire now after trading away the nude photos in his cell phone. I guess he can upgrade his phone now to a C905, so he can capture a clearer image. What I see that Elizabeth is quiting her post because she is intimidated by the intimate video clip instead of the semi nude photos, I have seen the photos (sorry, I am not going to distribute it), and I think it doesn't post any threat to her due to the image quality, the image quality is bad enough for you to deny that the lady in the photo is not you at all. What I believe is her enemy might be holding some sort of trump card - her personal sexual video clip, which has forced her to quit. Anyway, I gave my full support to her!

A message to Elizabeth's ex:
Dear Eliz. Ex Bf: I think you are a dead meat now, you better hide somewhere else because once your photo is out on the newspaper, I believe someone will take 'good care' of you! You are just a social scum that people don't mind to dispose you. Sleep tight! You Bastard!

Sony Ericsson C905

Got my Sony Ericsson C905 from the company last month, bought it at RM1730, but I only have to pay Rm230 extra as the company subsidize the rest. The phone is really nice and cool, especially the black color one, cuz it comes with 8 megal pixel camera with face detection. I think it is the one that James Bond use in the Quantum of Solace. Too bad, I didn't really got a chance to own and use the phone.
Anyway, I sold it to my friend for Rm1.5k, she really got a great deal as Bandar Utama was selling around Rm2099 last month. So she also bought me dinner after handling all the cash to me. :)

Why would I want to sell such a good phone at such a low price?
Reason 1: Frankly speaking, I don't like to use SE's phone, prefer Nokia which is really easy to use.
Reason 2: I am still using my i-phone, though I wish it comes with the forward SMS feature.

Partner's new office visit

Went to one of my company's partner new office opening party in KL. Has some wine and snacks over there. Personally , I think their office is quite nice. Me and my colleagues just drop by for one and half hour there and then we leave.

P1 Wimax Trial

Finally I got my Wimax modem. The modem is free because I sign up as a interested user on their webpage.
There is a girl with a very sweet voice called me this evening, she said she want to do a survey, I said ok!
Her first question is, "Why are you interested with our P1 Wimax service?" I told her, "Very simple, cuz Streamyx sucks!"
For countless days, I am so tired off rebooting my modem on and off, typing "ipconfig /flushdns" in command prompt and call up the TM customer service and tell them to reset the port. Now at least the initial testing shows that the Wimax service is steady, it won't simply drop so I have to reset my modem by unplugging and replugging the power. I won't say the connection is damn good, but at least, for RM22 more on every month, the service is better than the lousy Streamyx. Finally, I am going to call up Stremyx customer service and tell them, "please cancel my account!" I don't think they want to ask me what is the reason I want to cancel, even a retard know what is the reason. Stremyx is a product of monopoly, you push garbage to your customers, and your customers doesn't have much options so they have to stick with the garbage. Finally Wimax signal has come to my area, well done!

Lion dance at Ericsson's office

I think the company pays more this year on Lion dance, even the action is more challenging compare to last year.

Check what is inside the washing machine

My mom called me today in the middle of work, wait! No, I should say that while I am pissing in front of the urine bowl. I told her that I will call him in a minute, it sounds like an urgent! But still, I need to call her back later, or else I won't be able to zip my pants. With one hand holding my iphone, one hand holding my 'brother', damn, that is what you called "multi-tasking"!?

Ok, here is what is going, she told me that she was shocked and still having cold sweat when she called me. She found a dead rat inside the washing machine! The rat might had hid within the laundry so when my mom dump all the laundry into the washing machine, the rat goes in as well, she didn't notice the rat. Of course, after all the detergent water flooding in, it killed the rat. My mom don't dare to remove the rat, so when I come back, I do the dirty work. I am not afraid of rat, my weakness is cockroach, where as my mom is not afraid of it. Everybody just has their own weaknesses, even Superman! :)

Birthday

My colleague celebrate my birthday for me, notice that the name is my initials, "V.K."? I think for the past three jobs I changed, I have 3 different name, one is "Voon", one is "Choong" and one is "VK", I do this so that people can better remember my name. Thanks to this bugger lawyer "VK Lingam", who had actually made my name easier to remember. Hahahah.

The candles, three big three small, I guess you know what does that mean. My boss txt me and wish me Happy Birthday on that day, she said, "You are 34 right?". I said, "Nope, I am 33", then she replied, "You are younger than I thought." ... I was like ^&*@^!!$ :)

My little room

After seeing some big house, here is my humble little room. In the photo is my nieces, Xin Yi and Zhi Yi. I have to evacuate them already, cuz one adult with two kids in the room is a bit crowded already. ;) Hahahaha
